2012 CS4L Summit Program Announced!

November 28, 2011

We are pleased to announce the program for the 2012 Canadian Sport for Life Summit, February 1 – 2, 2012 at the Hilton Lac-Leamy in Gatineau-Ottawa.

This year we have made a few tweaks to the Summit format. These changes will provide you with even more opportunities to learn about CS4L and share your thoughts, experiences, and best practices.

New this year are the “Big Idea” sessions. To kick off the Summit, we will have a number of short (i.e. 5 minute) presentations on “Big Ideas”, similar in style to the presentations from TED.com. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to delve deeper into one of the Big Ideas later in the day.

We think that the Big Ideas will provide a great opportunity to think outside the box as we envision how CS4L could grow in the future. In the next few weeks we will be announcing the topics and the presenters for the Big Ideas, so keep watching this website, CS4L on Twitter, and our CS4L Facebook page.

This year’s Summit will also feature poster presentations. There will be three poster sessions during the Summit, including a Wednesday night No-Host Bar social where presenters will display their work on posters. We have some great poster presentations lined up and will be annoucing all of our poster presenters at a later date.

As always, the Summit will still feature stimulating individual presentations and panels as seen at the previous CS4L Workshops. For the 2012 Summit we’ve got a fantastic variety of presentations, including: new implementation work done by Football Canada and Tennis Canada; recreation presentations from HIGH Five and PISE and new work on physical literacy and education by PHE Canada. CS4L Leadership Team members will also present information on their areas of expertise, including Dr. Steve Norris presenting on "Building an Institute Based on CS4L Framework" and Istvan Balyi with an updated LTAD 101 presentation entitled Kaizen.

Don’t forget we also have the pre-workshops on Tuesday January 30, 2011. This year we have four pre-workshops:

  • Ensuring your Competition Review is a Success
  • Community-Based Partners in Sport 3 (co-presented by the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association)
  • Athletes with a Disability
  • Social Media & CS4L: How to Communicate Effectively to your Audience

A final reminder: Early Bird Registration ends this Wednesday Nov 30th!  Take this opportunity to sign up now, as we’re looking forward to seeing all of you at the Hilton Lac-Leamy in Gatineau-Ottawa in February!
