Newfoundland and Labrador has created a new position in support of LTAD/CS4L implementation. The final details are now being completed and then the call for applications will be advertised.

Values & Principles: The CS4L guide outlines 10 factors that impact the 7 stages of LTAD. Now, as the project has matured into a movement, a set of values and principles has been developed with the contribution of many. View

The Vancouver School Board’s Management Committee recently approved a Healthy Living policy includes introducing schools to the Canadian Sport for Life framework in 2008/09.

 

The City of Vancouver approved $240,000 in support of the implementation of its CS4L based Vancouver Sport Strategy (VSS). View the VSS Implementation Plan

 

The Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation unveiled a new grant program to integrate Physical Literacy ("Active Start", "FUNdamentals", "Learning to Train", and "Training to Train") stages into the program, design, development and delivery.  Next opportunity to apply May 1. More 

 

Toronto Public Health Agency is providing “Developing Physical Literacy” to all its public health nurses.

 

Targeted at Early Childhood Educators, PARC is sponsoring three presentations on Physical Literacy December 2008 to February 2009, in Ontario, Nova Scotia & Saskatchewan.

 

Three regional train-the-trainer workshops in Physical Literacy for community-based leaders/educators working in early childhood development/education will take place between December 2008 and January 2009 with funding from the Federal/Provincial/Territorial Physical Activity and Recreation Committee.

The Active Start Stage is the first of seven stages in the Long-Term Athlete Development model and focuses on the need to promote Physical Literacy in children ages 0-6. Active Start Workshops will be held in Nova Scotia, Ontario and Saskatchewan where Dr. Colin Higgs will train educators of early childhood educators on the importance of an Active Start and Physical Literacy and how it can be integrated into early childhood education programs.
