LTAD related changes impact the long‐term actions of organizations, and this presentation will address ways in which LTAD plans impact organizations, and how LTAD can be integrated into the strategic plans of sport organizations.

Once the LTAD framework document is completed, the next challenge is to bring it to life in the sport community. Can a sport’s LTAD framework become the cornerstone for the daily functioning of an NSO? Can we take a common‐sense approach to LTAD implementation? This presentation discusses the Talent Identification challenges coaches face in an early specialization sport, such as figure skating, versus Talent Surveillance in a late specialization sport like baseball.

This presentation includes an overview of how the LTAD for boccia was developed and how it is being implemented in a small NSO setting, with real programming examples.

A Hockey Intervention Program was established as an innovative vehicle to evaluate the infrastructure‐training relation for athletes participating in hockey associations and leagues from tykes to pros.

LTAD: Implications for the Female Athlete (Dr. Vicki Harber)

This presentation describes musculoskeletal injuries and medical conditions that interfere with the training, recovery and competition schedules of females and discuss implementation strategies that enable female athletes to maximize their performance potential without compromising long‐term health.

 

Physical Literacy: Building the Base for Health and Excellence (Dr. Colin Higgs)

This presentation looks at ways in which the key elements of physical literacy: coordination, agility and balance can be developed. The presentation also looks at effective methods that do not require anything more than basic equipment and that can be included in the warm‐up and game activities of many sports.

 

Planning and Periodization for the Jr. Athlete (Istvan Balyi)

The presentation will use developmental age versus chronological age to show how to design an annual plan for a pubertal athlete.

 

 

 

Raising the Bar – How Management by Values can Help Sport Organizations Achieve their Full Potential (Dina Bell-Laroche)

This session reviews how management by values can assist sport organizations by having them deal more effectively and proactively with the many issues and complexities that are surfacing in this complex environment, as well as share lessons learned from other NSOs.

 

Stories from the Front - Baseball Implementation (André Lachance)

How LTAD is helping the sport of baseball to be a less conservative sport by building creative programs for the members. Programs such as Rally Cap (Initiation), WinterBall (schools), RBI (club excellence) and pitch count (players’ arms safety) all gave Baseball a whole new look.
